Reflections Of The Smokies

I had the opportunity to climb the Bull Head Trail This week.  It was a great hike.  It was almost like summer time at the trail head.  As I went up the mountain I walked into spring.  As I got towards the top of the mountain it was still winter with stretches of deep snow and ice.  The was a little ice and sleet in the higher elevations of the Smokies today.  Winter is still reluctant to release it's icy grip.

Hello Doug: sorry I missed meeting you when I was at the lodge Apr 4th & 5th, but it was nice of Millie to let me speak to you by cell phone; perhaps in July we'll meet (7th & 8th); your photos are simply great; always enjoy them and their quality and detail, especially the trillium; and the shot on the Bullhead Trail was very good; I'm taking Trillium in July so I can encounter the llamas; have never taken Bullhead but will on a later visit; have a good weekend. D.Y.

Looking forward to heading down to the Smokies next weekend. Not sure if we will have time for a hike up to the summit of Leconte, but it will not be from a lack of trying.

Wow...I don't remember seeing the ground when I hiked. I looking forward to hiking it this spring to see what the trail looks like without snow. Was the backpack and tent gone?
