Reflections Of The Smokies

Picture
Ruby Throated Humming Bird, 9/10
"A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush."  I went into a building to day and found this little guy trying to fly out the sky light.  I got a ladder and just climbed up and caught him.  He sat calmly in my hand for a photo before I let him get back to his nectar hunt in the beautiful Smokies.  It was a cool experience to hold a Humming Bird.  They don't weigh anything and are extremely powerful.  I was happy to see this one in the flowers and out of the building.

How lucky you and that little hummingbird were to have found each other.

Wow Doug, It looks like an oil painting, look at the shading and the highlight. God was a wonderful artist to create such beauties and you had it in your hand. Awesome

Must have been the work/tool shed. I had to save one out of there in '07 season. Yay for hummingbird rescue!

truly a great photo; I have dozens of hummingbirds around my home, but never have I actually held one; they often fly right up my face and take a good look at me, then zoom off.

One got in our sunroom one time. I thought I would never catch it. It got on the ceiling fan and went from blade to blade. I finally caught it and it was wonderful to hold it in my hand. They are so soft and weigh nothing. I didn't want to let it go. Awesome!!!!!!!! Very good pic!!!!!!
